Te Matatini’s principal purpose was to produce a biennial National Kapa Haka Festival. The National Festival continues to be the primary focus of Te Matatini but the role of Te Matatini has been expanded to include other important objectives.

The leagues aim was a very much focused core in which the members readily coped with.rnThe importance of family strengthening, self motivation & being self reliant wasrna job the women responded to which in turn helped the families come self suppotive.

Building capacity of Maori, Pacific and mainstream organisations to enable them to contribute effectively and meaningfully, to the development of Maori and Pacific communities.

The Friends of the Waikanae River have a common interest in the achievement of our Vision. The Friends come from a wide range of groups, organisations and individuals with a shared interest in the River. The Friends have established links to the Wellington Regional Council, the Kapiti Coast District Council and Te Ati Awa Ki Whakarongatai the Tangata Whenua.
