Hohua has been extremely privileged to be trained by expert Ta Moko artist and Tohunga Whakairo Gordon Toi Hatfield, whose skills in the Medium of Ta Moko are world renown. He has been an integral part of Hohua's journey and has mentored him throughout his Moko career. Hohua has sat along side many tohunga Ta Moko and has also been a part of various Moko Wananga throughout Aotearoa. He lives by the belief that every experience is a learning experience. From his constant pursuing and study of Moko and its various elements he has acquired a diverse range of patterns, pattern meanings and tribal styles which are clearly evident in his Moko.
