Ngaire Rogers formed the Friends of Lake Hakanoa Walkway, with Brian Curle elected as their Chairman. They then focused on creating a track around the entire 3.62Km of the lake. This herculean task was completed in 2000. The walkway has been divided into 13 zones, each with its own separate and different identity.
