The Ministry of Maori Development Act 1991 established Te Puni Kokiri, the Ministry of Maori Development in 1992. Currently, Te Puni Kokiri’s work focuses on providing high quality policy advice to Government and other agencies. Recently it has also begun providing services to assist Maori achieve their development aims.

Te Ohu Kaimoana is a statutory organisation dedicated to future advancement of M?ori interests in the marine environment. The New Zealand Conservators of Cultural Materials Pu Manaaki Kahurangi Incorporated (NZCCM ) is an association of professional conservators of cultural property employed in public museums, art galleries, libraries and in private practice. The NZCCM was formed in 1983 and became an incorporated society in 1986. The group has regional branches in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Issues passports; administers civil unions; registers births, deaths and marriages; administers citizenship applications; ensures gambling is fair, legal and honest; enforces censorship law and anti-spam law and promotes internet safety; contributes to community development by administering Lottery Grants, Community Grants Schemes, Grants Online and Trusts; and provides support services and policy advice for Ministers of the Crown. Archives New Zealand, Te Rua Mahara o te Kawanatanga is the official guardian of New Zealand’s public archives. We gather, store and protect an extremely wide range of material. Our holdings include the originals of the Treaty of Waitangi, government documents, maps, paintings, photographs and film. Many different people and organisations, including family historians, academics, legal researchers, professional historians and genealogists use the materials held at Archives New Zealand. They document rights and entitlements and provide evidence of government activity. The materials also record history and document the relationship between Maori and the Crown. The archives are a valuable resource and have contributed to Treaty claim research, Maori language revitalisation, and iwi, hapu and whanau history.
