Welcome to Te Puni Kokiri’s website for effective governance education. This site is designed to help trustees and directors of Maori organisations with their responsibilities and role as guardians and leaders. It aims to support those who have taken up that challenge by sharing best practice on the essential elements of effective governance. Whether it’s for a small whanau trust or a major trading company, there are sound principles for safeguarding and growing assets for the benefit of their owners.

The Ministry of Maori Development Act 1991 established Te Puni Kokiri, the Ministry of Maori Development in 1992. Currently, Te Puni Kokiri’s work focuses on providing high quality policy advice to Government and other agencies. Recently it has also begun providing services to assist Maori achieve their development aims.

Te Ohu Kaimoana is a statutory organisation dedicated to future advancement of M?ori interests in the marine environment. Its role is to allocate to mandated iwi organisations fisheries assets held in trust through the 1989 and 1992 M?ori Commercial Fisheries Settlement and provide an advisory service to its iwi constituents.

Te Mangai Paho is a Crown Entity established to make funding available to the national network of Maori radio stations and for the production of Maori language television programmes, radio programmes and music CDs.

The New Zealand Conservators of Cultural Materials Pu Manaaki Kahurangi Incorporated (NZCCM ) is an association of professional conservators of cultural property employed in public museums, art galleries, libraries and in private practice. The NZCCM was formed in 1983 and became an incorporated society in 1986. The group has regional branches in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

As a New Zealand Maori, or a descendant of a New Zealand Maori, you have the choice of enrolling to vote at parliamentary elections on a Maori roll or a General roll.

Issues passports; administers civil unions; registers births, deaths and marriages; administers citizenship applications; ensures gambling is fair, legal and honest; enforces censorship law and anti-spam law and promotes internet safety; contributes to community development by administering Lottery Grants, Community Grants Schemes, Grants Online and Trusts; and provides support services and policy advice for Ministers of the Crown. We are home to the Office of Ethnic Affairs, Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management,and the Local Government Commission. The Department's present activities include implementation of dog control legislation and a dog safety campaign, implementation of the Local Government Act 2002, providing information on local councils, and working with local and central government to support community outcomes.

Welcome to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the New Zealand government’s source of advice on ways to improve the lives of women. The job of the Ministry is to provide advice on policy solutions to improve the status of women, recommend suitable women nominees for state sector boards, manage New Zealand’s international obligations in relation to the status of women, in particular under the United Nations Convention for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women.

Archives New Zealand, Te Rua Mahara o te Kawanatanga is the official guardian of New Zealand’s public archives. We gather, store and protect an extremely wide range of material. Our holdings include the originals of the Treaty of Waitangi, government documents, maps, paintings, photographs and film. Many different people and organisations, including family historians, academics, legal researchers, professional historians and genealogists use the materials held at Archives New Zealand. They document rights and entitlements and provide evidence of government activity. The materials also record history and document the relationship between Maori and the Crown. The archives are a valuable resource and have contributed to Treaty claim research, Maori language revitalisation, and iwi, hapu and whanau history.
