New Zealand’s largest street market, up to 5,000 people visit this Saturday morning market each week, and business is well underway by 6am. Pacific Island, Maori, Asian and Pakeha stallholders gather each week, creating a uniquely New Zealand multicultural experience. As you meander around the 250 plus stalls, Pacific Island music plays loudly, while the thick scent of Cook Island donuts, hot rewana bread, and Chinese pork buns hangs in the air. Whether you’re after fresh fruit and vegetables, unique clothing, jewellery or Pacific Island crafts, the Otara Market is a penny pincher’s dream. Access is from the East Tamaki off-ramp, about 20 kilometres south of central Auckland on the Southern Motorway.

Co-owners Melissa and Bianca will create a great trip, ranging from adventurous and challenging through to sedate sightseeing - all from a Maori perspective. If you wish, we will supply female guides or instructors. However, on any of our trips (whether they are women only or not) you can feel comfortable that you will be supported in a women-friendly environment.

Potiki Adventures is experienced at working with School groups. From primary through to secondary, kura kaupapa and alternative education classes. You can either hire our fully qualified instructors by the day, or we can organise your whole camp including meals, accommodation, activities, transport etc.

Avondale Markets is held every Sunday 6.00am to 12noon. Strong Polynesian and Asian influence with a multitude of stalls, arts and crafts, new and used products and produce, clothes and general bric-a-brac. A great day out in a multicultural atmosphere.
