The origin of the Hawke’s Bay Maori Tourism Charitable Trust stems back to the 1990s. At this time Maori Tourism in Hawke’s Bay occurred on an adhoc basis and with very little support. This resulted in Maori Tourism interests in Hawke’s Bay convening several hui to help identify the needs of the local community from a Maori Tourism perspective. As a result, a charitable trust was formed.
