Ngati Maniapoto is historically an established tribe. In these modern times Ngati Maniapoto has shown a concern for the welfare and development of their people, thus forming the Maniapoto Maaori Trust Board. The Trust Board's main mission is:
"To preserve and protect the identity, integrity and interests of the Maniapoto Tribe".
The Maniapoto Maaori Trust Board, in its drive towards tribal development, has maintained this mission.
